always more human.
a think piece on the necessity of our humanity.
#1
today i’m thinking about the fact that God is always trying to make us more human.
allow me to explain;
the degree to which humanity has endured suffering has always been a relentless attempt by the enemy to dehumanize us. poverty, immorality, sickness, among others, result in an ultimate loss of the human spirit.
on a non-physical level, attritions like anxiety, fear, and depressions, DEHUMANIZE US. they manifest themselves in sustained persecutions that people can face for the entirety of their earthly existence. in their voracious nature they have the dehumanizing quality of drawing people to a willing loss of life.
pride wouldn’t be an option for us, if we fully embraced our humanity. we would recognize our need for desperate dependency on God every second of every day. concurrently, mediocrity/timidity wouldn’t be our reality if we embraced our own humanity, recognizing that the indomitable human spirit is more capable of achieving all that it sets its mind to, and even so that at any given time we are always much more capable of more than we think we are, more than we can ever imagine.

and so in my own ruminating with the Holy Spirit, i have found that God’s attempts at restoration were never to conform us to an unspoken idea. it was always an attempt to bring us back to our original design, his original design the one he called ‘GOOD’ from the very beginning.
our redemption through Jesus, was always to bring us back to our humanity. the one that requires a free flowing form of vulnerability, the one that doesn’t exalt itself above others. this very humanity once tainted by sin, is now called ‘new creation’ in an attempt to make us recognize that we are no longer of adam, but now of God.
do not despise your humanity and even more so the humanity of others.
