be honest
how do you feel?
the biggest lie I’ve ever believed was that my feelings were a direct show of my lack of strength.
If I couldn’t hold all the weight of the world on my shoulders, was I even worthy of being a part of it?
strength
the capacity of an object or substance to withstand great force or pressure.
Redefining strength-what does strength look like to me?
Strength looks like doing what most are incapable of. Strength looks like acknowledging your hurts and mistakes in humility.
Humility is strength because it requires a fierce denial of our inherent self serving nature.
Strength looks like encouraging and admonishing even when you don’t feel like it.
It looks like picking up the phone to ask about your friend’s emotional state when you know that yours is a wreck.
Jesus is the pinnacle of the characteristic of strength. His meekness was seen as a show of incapacity, still, the strongest thing he ever did was endure that cross. selflessly.
It must mean then that strength is an ‘other than myself’ perspective.
Love is strength because it requires so much from us.
How beautiful it is then that our reality can be that, the measure of our strength is how well we love requiring nothing in return.
How vulnerable we can be, how many walls we can break down when we realize we are drowning. When God repairs our world view, love begins to exist in everything around us again, our strength is redefined by how largely we can love with this beating heart he has placed in us.
you just didn’t know how.
Recently I’ve been learning that the gentler route is the route of the father.
Acknowledging my feelings and faults doesn’t now warrant a stripping scrutiny for what I did and how I didn’t do it right.
It requires the humility to ask for help, to implore another perspective. To realize that ‘you are not weak, you just didn’t know how’
The world is as it is today because we have been taught many things but never to successfully go through emotional pitfalls and come out stronger,
so we displace the distraughtness of a longing soul into the rot that exists in our world. Where sadness is the generic and happiness is a rare commodity.
the gentler route is the route of the father.
When we ask God to teach us through our pain, we will realize that he presents everything wrapped in gentleness and kindness never diminishing the fierceness of his truth.
Love will lead you there.
-with all the love in my heart
