LOVE ACTUALLY
is all around.
It whispers, crinkling the fabrics of humanity, whispers sweet things. Everything and nothing at once.
It sounds like a question, an answer, a declaration unwritten on everything except the fleshly tablets of our hearts themselves.
We may look for love as if to say it is hard to find, or we may realize it existed around us all along, in the gentle prompt of a stranger holding the door open for you to pass, in the eyes of a child looking at you from across the room, as if to say I see all that surrounds me but I choose to look at you, love could not be written more in everything around us. In humanity’s snippets of speech ‘good morning-pleasant weather we are having’, small talk overlooked as if it does not hold our hearts within it. ’ I hope the start of your day is good, I hope the rain doesn’t catch you on your way’.
because how could we not be surrounded by love, when we exist in a world created by love HIMSELF.
Omnipotent in nature, love brushes against your cheek in the form of a gentle wind, it whips your hair from your face, in the shadow of a drifting cloud hiding you from the sun, in the painted skies above, as if to say ‘I knew you would look up at this very moment and I wanted you to see this’
Its potency seems to increase with intimacy,
‘Are you hungry, have you eaten?’ In a mothers smile, the laugh of a family member you haven’t seen in a while, the sharp whipping of a dogs tail, rain water dripping softly on your skin, the drizzle before the pour as if to say ‘ here is a warning to get you to safety before you are soaked’
In the very fringes of our existence, even down to the lapels of the coat, we love in every single form, we love in the light of Love Himself, when we become aware of the love that exists freely around us, we begin to mimic it.
In cinema, in music in the intentional craft of the food we make, down to the simplest of things. Listen for the whisper, the hope of us. The God of the universe hides flowers in the crack of a pavement strip, in hopes that you would see them and smile, all the intentionality of a God who knows no coincidence. Who wrote love in blood over brutality, as he carried the cross. The biggest and most long lasting form of PDA.
at the end of it all, love is humanity’s draw from God, an inspiration to keep being alive. I hope for the rest of my life i learn to listen when it speaks.
-with all the love in my heart
